Eames Institute
Architecture & Interiors, Reportage

"Situated among the rolling hills and farmland of Petaluma, California, Lucia Eames built the Eames Ranch as a place to live, work, and preserve the remarkable body of work left behind by her parents [Ray and Charles Eames]. The property was acquired in 1992, and the structures designed by William Turnbull were completed in 1996. Today, as a part of the Eames Institute, it serves as a living laboratory of regenerative agriculture where the Eameses’ approach to design comes to life in surprising and delightful ways—both indoors and out."
In 2021, I spent a few days on site documenting the Eames Institutes work and the archive itself. That began a fruitful creative collaboration that continues to this day as I've repeatedly returned to document their transformation into a public facing institution, including the 2024 opening of their Richmond archive.
